सन १८८० मध्ये ब्रिटिश छायाचित्रकार हेन्री कझेन्स यांनी काढलेले नाशिक येथील सुंदर नारायण मंदिराचे छायाचित्र
गोदावरी नदीच्या तीरावर इसवी सन १७५६ मध्ये उभारण्यात आलेले सुंदर नारायण मंदिर हे नाशिकमधील अठराव्या शतकातील उत्कृष्ट स्थापत्यकलेचे द्योतक आहे. काळ्या दगडात उभारलेले हे मंदिर आपल्या आकर्षक शिल्पकलेसाठी, सुबक कोरीवकामासाठी आणि वास्तुरचनेसाठी प्रसिद्ध आहे. मंदिराची रचना अशी आहे की विषुवदिनांच्या (Equinox) काळात उगवत्या सूर्याची किरणे थेट भगवान विष्णूच्या मूर्तीवर पडतात. त्यामुळे हे मंदिर धार्मिक श्रद्धेबरोबरच स्थापत्य आणि खगोलशास्त्रीय दृष्टीनेही विशेष महत्त्वाचे मानले जाते.

सन १८५० मध्ये जॉन विल्यम यांनी टिपलेले नाशिक येथील नारोशंकर मंदिराचे दुर्मिळ छायाचित्र
गोदावरीच्या पवित्र तीरावर वसलेले नारोशंकर मंदिर हे नाशिकच्या ऐतिहासिक आणि सांस्कृतिक वैभवाचे एक महत्त्वपूर्ण प्रतीक आहे. प्रसिद्ध मराठा सरदार नारोशंकर राजेबहाद्दर यांनी इ.स. १७४७ मध्ये या भव्य मंदिराची उभारणी केली.
मराठाकालीन स्थापत्यकलेचा उत्कृष्ट नमुना मानल्या जाणाऱ्या या मंदिरावर अत्यंत सूक्ष्म आणि आकर्षक दगडी कोरीवकाम आढळते. मंदिराची भक्कम दगडी रचना, कलात्मक वास्तुशैली आणि विशेषतः प्रसिद्ध ‘नारोशंकराची घंटा’ यांमुळे या मंदिराला महाराष्ट्राच्या इतिहासात अनन्यसाधारण महत्त्व प्राप्त झाले आहे.
आजही हे मंदिर नाशिकच्या समृद्ध वारशाची साक्ष देत भाविक, इतिहासप्रेमी आणि पर्यटकांना आकर्षित करत आहे. 🛕✨
